Dear Friends in Christ,
It is our earnest desire to see the Christian families of our nation rise up and live life as God intended (Colossians 3). We need to exhort and encourage one another to this end. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11-13). For “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (III John 3). We cannot hope to be prepared for spiritual warfare; we cannot hope to resist that roaring lion that seeks to devour us and destroy our families; we cannot hope to raise godly offspring, and be lights shining in the darkness of our God-defying culture if we are diluting and obscuring God’s truth with the wisdom of this world. What we allow to enter our minds, is what we think about, and what we think about is what we become. For this very reason we have chosen to invest time and resources into Heart and Home. This is our avenue of sharing with other families the many good things we have found along the way that can help to grow us without polluting our minds with the wisdom of this world. At the beginning of this catalogue we have included a couple of articles which we hope will cause you to see how important it is to guard our children’s minds, and our own, for that matter. Please do take the time to read these—they are not just filler! We are not all of the same personality, we do not all share the same strengths and weaknesses, likes or dislikes, so every family will have it’s own unique flavour. Nevertheless, we must all be “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Cor.10:5). May the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in His sight (Psalm 19:14).May God grant you wisdom as you seek His will in these matters of eternal significance, and may God bless each of you as you seek to honour Him.
Our History
Many years ago, when our eldest children began to read, we became painfully aware of how few books really worth reading we could actually find. We were sorely disappointed and greatly grieved with the literature we found on the shelves of the mainline, so-called “Christian” bookstores. Thus began our search for quality Christian literature. Through this, and other events in our lives, God planted in our hearts a real burden for Christian families, and the importance of somehow sharing the godly teaching we were receiving from various sources, which the Lord in His great providence had brought across our path.
Consequently, in 1997, Heart and Home was born, in an attempt to make readily available quality Christian reading material, and other family resources. In those early days, the stock was kept on a bookshelf in our front hallway. However, over the years God has graciously blessed and multiplied our efforts, and the bookshelf has long since been outgrown! We now send orders by mail to hundreds of Christian families all over Australia. What an encouragement it has been to us as a family to discover that we are not the only ones seeking higher ground as we press onward and upward, and how blessed we have been to meet so many like-minded families.
