Anna P. Siviter Originally published in 1901, this is an excellent story of Nehemiah, Cupbearer to King Artaxerxes. The author did a great deal of research to insure historical accuracy. It is well-written. This book is suited for teens and adults.
After reading this book you will hardly be able to wait to open your Bible and read, with new understanding and excitement, the book of Nehemiah. Anna Siviter, by weaving the rich tapestry of the ancient Persian court as a backdrop for the story of Artaxerxes' noble cup bearer, allows us to grasp the deep significance of Nehemiah's devotion to God, to Jerusalem, and to his people.
It is one of those hard-to-put-down reads, but far beyond its lively plot is its sacred focus. Just as old Ezra, may we be willing to hear God's call as a call to our own hearts, and be committed to His will.
